Terry Bell, Photographer, Thinker, Mentor
“A question often posed in Vanity Fair’s , “Proust Questionnaire”, is: What quality do you most deplore in yourself? A few years back I would have given a casual nod to envy. Then, after a long absence, I was reintroduced to the work of Ron Baxter Smith, and turning a shade of ‘The Hulk’ green, seemed to be an every week event for me. I would have considered this as bearable, had Ron confined himself to photography, an art form at which he is unquestionably a master… but no… he also had to show his mastery as a painter, collage artist, sculptor, and interior designer. The fluidity with which Ron moves from one gift to another is awe inspiring as is most every piece he places in front of us. Ron is very much a modern day renaissance man. For this I am both profoundly grateful… and green.”
